Learning Collectives

Purpose

The purpose of our Learning Collectives (LCs) are to collaborate through consultation and feedback on the creation and development of school programs and resources within our museums and online.

Structure

The Learning Collectives are split into three specialised groups of six participants. Educators may choose to nominate themselves for one of the following groups:

  • Early Years and Primary School
  • High School
  • Homeschooling

Time commitment

Members of LCs will need to commit to attending one online meeting, and two face-to-face meetings per year. Occasionally members may also be asked to meet online or answer emails outside of these meetings. LC members will participate for one year starting in 2026 and may be back asked to return at the invitation of the History Trust.

Joint Induction meeting

  • Wednesday 18 March 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Early Years and Primary School

  • Saturday 9 May 10:00 to 12.30
  • Saturday 21 November 10:00 to 12.30

High School

  • Saturday 23 May 10:00 to 12.30
  • Saturday 7 November 10:00 to 12.30

Homeschooling

  • Wednesday 18 March 10:00 am to 11:30 am
  • Wednesday TBC July 10:00 am to 11:30 am

Roles and responsibilities

 Members may be asked to:

  • contribute to the development of learning resources, programs, and professional learning workshops, through consultation and feedback
  • participate in program pilots with their class or test new resources in their education settings
  • attend meetings, answer emails, and participate in surveys
  • act as ambassadors for the History Trust by sharing, resources, and information on programs and professional development workshops with colleagues and school communities
  • consent to having their image and work used for promotional materials and reports.

In return LC members will:

  • receive compensation for their contribution through a $50 voucher
  • contribute to the direction and output of learning and education materials for the History Trust of South Australia
  • be acknowledged on our education website.

Eligibility

LC members will:

  • commit to attending all meetings listed
  • demonstrate creative, knowledgeable, and flexible practice
  • be interested and excited about collaboration and dialogue with a diverse group of educators and maintain an open mind
  • be current final year pre-service teachers, classroom teachers or members of school leadership teams (This does not apply to homeschool educators)
  • if homeschooling, currently be teaching children from 5 to 17 years in age.
